Bring the flooring details to the survey
A product name, maintenance manual, spare tile or installer record can help establish what is on the floor. Note floor boxes, access panels, loose edges and damaged tiles. If the details are unknown, flag that rather than assuming all carpet tiles respond alike.
Use the manufacturer’s instructions
Interface and Shaw Contract publish product maintenance guidance. Check the relevant instructions for your actual flooring before agreeing cleaning products or methods. A contractor’s preferred machine is not a substitute for identifying the installation.
Treat traffic zones as separate decisions
Walk the routes from entrances to lifts, tea points and desk banks. Record where the condition changes and compare it with the quieter meeting rooms. Scope the areas requiring deeper attention and those suited to routine or interim care.
What about raised access floors?
Locate floor boxes and panels, identify existing defects and discuss moisture controls before work. Do not assume that using less water removes every risk. Agree the method, access restrictions and any areas that cannot be included.

Cleaning, spot replacement or further assessment?
Cleaning can remove suitable soiling but cannot repair physical wear, backing failure or permanent colour damage. Where a few tiles are damaged, ask the flooring supplier about matching stock and installation options. We keep those decisions separate from the cleaning quote.
