This guide concerns organising an enquiry for communal carpet work. It does not give clinical advice, prescribe infection-control procedures or assume that every room in a care setting is suitable for the same treatment.
Which communal carpet areas are included?
Name each lounge, reception area and carpeted route requested. Describe whether the area remains occupied and whether furniture will stay in place. Include the next activity requiring that area, rather than relying on a broad instruction such as “clean the communal carpets”.
Provide carpet product and care records where available. Tell the surveyor when they are missing. Report known damage, previous treatment or an unresolved moisture concern so the next assessment can address the actual condition. Do not reclassify an uncertain issue as ordinary soiling merely to fit a scheduled visit.
Who approves the route arrangements?
The home should identify the responsible person for its operational requirements and approved access arrangements. Share the contractor’s proposal with that person before confirming the work. The plan should address the areas being assessed and the movements that continue around them.

| Planning question | Information the home provides |
|---|---|
| Which communal zone can be released? | Room reference and actual availability |
| Who still needs access? | Relevant staff and visitor requirements |
| What requirements apply on site? | Current instructions from the responsible manager |
| When is the zone needed again? | Next activity and assessed handback requirements |
| Who receives the record? | Named responsible contact |
Do not send resident names, care records or clinical details with a general cleaning enquiry. Describe the operational constraint using only the information needed for the assessment.
Allow for the home’s daily programme
Discuss meals, scheduled activities and visiting periods with the site team. A lounge that appears quiet at survey may be needed at a specific point during the proposed visit. Keep that requirement in the room plan and identify who can authorise a change.
A hypothetical home might release a visitor lounge while retaining another communal space for an activity. That is a question for the home’s manager to resolve with the contractor, including the route between work and equipment access. It is not a universal arrangement that can be copied into every setting.
What can the handback establish?
A completion record can identify the carpet work performed, areas excluded and the agreed follow-up. It should also state the information needed by the receiving manager before use resumes. An ordinary cleaning record does not establish a clinical hygiene outcome or certify infection-control compliance.
Discuss drying and occupation at survey with the responsible site contact. Do not base the programme on a universal short drying claim. The appropriate method and actual conditions need assessment.
What should a care home send to Pristine?
Send the London postcode, communal carpet zones, available material information, proposed access period and responsible manager’s contact. Include site requirements for review through the care-home carpet service.
Request a free site survey to discuss the proposed communal work, subject to suitability and availability. Specialist requirements and unresolved site conditions need to be clarified before a quotation or programme is approved.
Message Pristine on WhatsApp or send an enquiry. Share the London postcode and the details relevant to this problem. WhatsApp 07488 325796; info@london-carpet-cleaner.co.uk.
